About Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society
The Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society (FOUVS) is a not-for-profit charitable organization formed in 1984. The Friends plan and execute educational and cultural programming which advances an appreciation of Ukrainian Canadian heritage of east central Alberta, operate essential services at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village and raise funds to ensure that UCHV can complete its mandate.
Besides providing essential services, FOUVS mission is to financially support the Village. Each year, the Friends Society plans a number of fundraising activities and actively solicits donations. Over the course of thirty year of operations, FOUVS has funded essential research (structural, material and narrative histories) for many of the buildings at the Village, paid for transporting and restoring buildings. In 2014 we began to fund the restoration and purchase of furnishing and artifacts to complete the final stage of developing the Village. In the next couple of years with your support, we can complete the Village and re-imagine its future. The Society has more than 600 members and welcomes you to join us. Become a Friend and help keep history alive for generations to come!
